Forum Title: You Want What....?
Working on a small project boxing in the eaves of a 1964 home where I failed inspection. I cut back the rafter tails to scab on a section of new rafter to replace the damaged tails (no dripcap). Placed a ledger on the wall secured with 5 ledger locks, into each stud, joisted back to the ledger with 2x4 at each rafter. The joists are attached to the ledger with simpson hangers. 2x sub facia is attached to new rafter tails but as you can see I was only able to get one 16 into each joist where it meets the new tail. the subfacia has 2 nails face nailed to the tail as well. IOR wants 3- 16's at the joist/ tail connection. keep in mind there is only about 1-1/2 of overlap. In Hindsight I should have used 2x6 throughout But the plans showed 2x4. any suggestions? ML
